XL+ provides a professional service and specialises in adapting styles to help meet individuals specific requirements to get the most from your lessons. To maximise your potential, it is important for you to feel calm and happy and I am certain that my style will help you to achieve this. I have been very successful with nervous drivers and have received positive feedback from them.
You will be collected and dropped at location(s) suitable for you - at home, college, workplace etc. within the areas covered. Lesson duration will be in the form of 60, 90 or 120 minutes with one to one training, you can guarantee that there will be nobody else in the car with us! You will be issued with a progress book which will enable you to assess how you are performing in the various competencies.
Develop a Skill for Life
The emphasis of your lessons will be to develop a skill for life. Hazard Perception training will also form part of the earlier lessons, to assist with your Theory Test. Various aspects of driving will be covered to include simple tasks such as how to fill a car with fuel.
XL+ will provide refresher lessons to those that have passed their test, but not driven for some time, or to those who need more confidence to drive in such conditions as motorways, dual carriageways, country roads, town driving etc. Refreshers can also be provided to people who have previously failed a test, or those that have driven mainly/only in other countries.
XL+ recognises the need for certain individuals to pass their test in a short timescale, and as such, offers you the chance to learn quickly at a much discounted cost. Typically this will be somebody with a specific target date in mind for test readiness and quite often will be students on leave during non-term time. I do not like to refer to them as 'crash courses', it implies something entirely different!
Test Readiness Assessments
At XL+ a fair and accurate assessment is completed to determine your ability to meet the requirements of a test situation. This will take place over a two hour session, giving time to practise in the first hour, with a 45 minute assessment to follow and ending with a 15 minute debrief.
Having been trained at BSM to Mock Examiner standards, I am fully aware of what is expected of you in the Driving Test. As such, to prepare you for your test, XL+ provides a simulated Test situation with a different instructor. You will get to experience what it is like to have somebody else sat next to you, giving you instructions. You will also get feedback on your performance, therefore creating an action plan for test readiness. These have proved invaluable to students in terms of recognising their performance in a different environment.
Pass Plus is a scheme supported by the Driving Standards Agency, the Government and Major Insurers. XL+ provides this training to pupils to help you become a better driver, including satnav driving, which forms part of the practical test from 4 December 2017
It is a course of six modules, which cover Motorways, Dual Carriageways, Night Driving, Rural Roads, Town/City Roads and All Weather Conditions. Pass Plus does not require a test to be taken at the end of the course. However, your driving will be assessed over the six sessions and when you attain a satisfactory level on all 6, you will receive a certificate to be issued by the DSA. Upon receipt of this, insurers who back the scheme may give you a variable discount!
XL+ makes Pass Plus enjoyable by covering challenging routes and giving you the opportunity to drive to locations having been given a simple set of directions initially, instead of the old turn left please, take the third exit on the roundabout please etc, etc!!! This is aligned to the independent driving aspect of the practical test that you will have done.
Having passed your driving test, you are now able to drive on motorways, which people rarely feel prepared for. As such, XL+ offers you the chance to tackle this new situation with professional guidance, rather than dealing with a potentially stressful scenario by yourself. This will involve non-standard motorway driving (M25) rather than the typical 3 lane motorways only! Motorway driving will form part of your tuition before your test at some point in 2018 when the new law has been approved.
Maybe you passed your test some time ago, but do not feel confident on motorways. Either way, feel free to contact XL+ to arrange these lessons, at a competitive price.
